Of Montreal

ofmontrealblog.jpg

Went to see Of Montreal with Yves last night at Northsix. Again, caught without fresh batteries. Ugh. Anyway, the evening started with Kevin Barnes (lead singer in Of Montreal) playing his mixed tape of his djing. Hmmm, Kevin, don't quit your day job! It wasn't bad but it wasn't that great. sorry! The opening act was called Management and at first I wasn't sure if it was a joke band or not. Actually, I'm still not sure. It was 2 guys, a sound track, an electronic drum and some hanging guitars that they didn't even play. They even called themselves a karoake band. Then finally!! Of Montreal comes on a little after 11, I felt like I was waiting forever. Of Montreal was great! I love their energy. They are coming back next month for CMJ and I hope to get into that show since we didn't stay for the whole show last night.

We had the Clyde photo shoot last Sunday, the 21st in DUMBO. Man, it was HOT and HUMID! Totally disgusting and we were out at 10 am in the morning. I only took Horizon and Holga shots that day. I've finished scanning in the horizon shots and almost done with the holga shots. I'm pleased with them. I'm really loving this Kodak T max 100 film I used for this shot and the red filter. I definitely need to get more of this film.

Happy 1 year!

more heads, originally uploaded by luluvision.

Last night's mixer marked the one year anniversary of cd mom. I can't believe we made it this far! We usually have the mixers at bars in Manhattan but since this was special, Nuno offered up his backyard in Sunset Park. It was a beautiful night! Filled with beautiful people, food, music, drinks, we couldn't have asked for a better evening! Of course we had so much fun doing these silly head shots at Richard's birthday that we had to do it here too!

Meat

meatblog.jpg

We went to Churrascaria Plataforma last night for Richard's 40th birthday. For those that are not familiar with the place, it's a Brazilian steakhouse where men walk around the restaurant with big skewers of meat. The price is not cheap but if you love meat, it is well worth it. Everything was delicious! I was so amazed at how big these ribs were, I had to take a picture. Then afterwards, we went to Tribeca Tavern to meet up with some other folks for some drinks and silliness. as you can see from this picture:

BBQ Horizon experiment

bbq, originally uploaded by luluvision.

Well, a failed experiment. I was trying to get Cindy (in yellow shirt) to appear twice in the photo. Since the lens of the horizon swings open, I was hoping this would be a little easier to achieve. Well, as you can see, obviously not! I will try again!

It's damn hot!

seaportblog.jpg
Horizon 202 shot of the South Street Seaport

It has been so freakin' hot lately and it's gotten me really lazy! I'll never finish my mosaic frame if this keeps up. A few weeks ago I bought some scrap glass and a glass cutter from Stained Glass Warehouse on the internet. I didn't realize how hard it was to cut class! I cut myself twice and Yves cut his foot when he walked into my craft room. Apparently, bits of glass fly when you're cutting glass and you don't know what you're doing! They make it look so easy on tv.

Did manage to meet Richard and have dinner with him and Joe at El Azteca yesterday. Yum! Also helped each other with some writing along with Alan.

I'm loving my horizon! What fun! Plus it's so much easier to scan 35 mm. I still haven't finished scanning my holga shots from Jamaica! Grrr, it's on the list! Anyway, click on the photo to see it bigger on my flickr page.
this blog cracks me up!

Clap Your Hands!

clapyourhandsweb.jpg

So I finally made it to my first free summer show tonight! I can't believe it! It's August and I finally get to one. Went to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the Seaport with Tammy. It was ok, they don't really sound that much different from their cd, which is fine. And I can't believe it but I had 3 sets of rechargable batteries with me and they were all dead! I did get this one shot before it went dead. I took some horizon shots of them too and I hope they came out. I also had my little camera but the zoom is practically nothing. It was a fun show and we left right after them cuz we were starving. We walked over to Chinatown for some soup dumplings. YUM!

Richarddrinksweb.jpg

This is my friend, Richard. He just started the night shift at work this week and I miss his sarcasm and jokes during the day. And I'm practicing my portrait shooting.

woohoo! so far I've received 2 cd mixes out of 5 from the piddleloop swap. One was from elizabeth and a double cd mix from garrett. I haven't listened to garrett's yet since I've been a work horse this week (I didn't leave work until midnight on Thursday and THAT IS NOT NORMAL!) There is a dual cd mix swap going on but I'm not sure if I want to do that one. Besides the fact that to me quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality but more so because I seem to get the raw end of the deal in these swaps. I guess I'll just see if I get the 3 remaining mixes that I'm supposed to get!
