Getting ready

Yves was home from work the past 2 weeks, he just went back on Tuesday. While he was home, he did a lot of home stuff in preparation of the new arrival in April. One of the first things he did was move everything out of the third room, which was our storage/guest room. All the shelves moved down to the basement, we got rid of a lot of old clothes to goodwill and sorted shifted things around. He cleared some space in the cabinets and his first handyman project was hanging up the pots like we had in the old apartment. I was secretly trying to hold him off of this project until after Christmas so he can use his new drill, which he loves! Here is the finished project:

I think it came out great! We still have some pots in the cabinet but these are the ones we use most often. The lids are still in the cabinet too. Those will have to stay in there.

Then he painted the soon to be nursery. We are pretty sure of the sex of the baby (although they told us it's only 100% when the baby comes out), we didn't want a typical color for either sex and picked something that we think would be good for either sex. Lime green! Well, the official title is Tinker Bell. I wanted something a bit more deeper but Yves thought it might be too bright so we compromised. We decided to do white stripes to break up the green. Then I thought I'd add highlight colors later on via wooden shelves and other accessories in orange (of course!), violet, blue, and other colors.

From dark blue to lime green

Adding tape to make white stripes was harder than we thought. Yves was concerned with keeping it straight but since we weren't even making symmetrical columns, I didn't think it mattered that much.

Revealing the first stripe!

We also went to Ikea to check out some book shelves, in which we are in dire need and we're talking mega bookshelves, not meager ones like we have. It's about time to get serious! We found one we really liked although there were 2 we wanted to see but couldn't find the other one. We'll have to go back and pick it up with the help of dad. It's going to go in the living room and the next big project will be packing away the cds. Since we hardly reference the cds once it's on our computer, we might as well pack them away.

They'll be going from this...

To this!

We'll be getting rid of the plastic cases and this aluminum case is supposed to fit 1,000 CDs. I'm not sure how much it will fit once we put in the booklet but we can always get more. This case was only $80 with free shipping!

Now for baby furniture....

The green & white stripes look faboo! Nice job.

And where did you get the CD case from? That price is awesome. I'm looking into storage options for my collection.
