We Love Our Excitable Gay Dog
Say it Loud! Say it Proud!
I don't remember the particulars but there was a previous incident that got us teasing Skippy about being gay (at least bi, he did father Rozee after all). We certainly don't care, we love him regardless. Yesterday was another incident to lean us toward purchasing Skippy a rainbow collar.
I took him to get a hair cut (yes, finally!!) It was a new salon, one recommended by a mom in the brooklyn playgroups I belong to. They let the dogs run around loose in the store and of course, Skippy loved that. He loves meeting new dogs, loves, loves, loves it. This little Pekingese dog came running over to Skippy and of course, Skippy is sniffing his butt. I'm trying to make him behave, I mean, this is our first time there! The next thing I see is the Pekingnese laying on his side, legs akimbo and Skippy is licking the dog's titties. Well, I don't know if they are called tittles on a dog but you know the area I mean. Anyway, I never saw this before!! The Pekingese seemed to be enjoying it cuz the legs were getting wider and wider. The groomer came out at that point so I had to tear him away. So when I come back to pick him up, he's practically all over the pekingese again and looked like he wanted to hump him but in the front! It turns out the pekingese is a boy! Well, I suppose as much as a boy as he can be since obviously some of his parts were missing. It cracked me up and I asked Skippy if he wanted a rainbow flag.
And while I'm at it, I'll show the placemat I made him. The first picture is really just to show how long his hair was.

Most Awesome Mail!
Fellow blogger and generally awesome person, Jennifer sent me this box full of great goodies the other day!
We never officially met but I discovered her blog about a year and half ago when she was hosting a CD mix swap and I've been keeping up with her craftiness ever since. She and her sister have a wonderful shop and they know how to sew! If I was working, I'd definitely own a bunch more of their pouches than the one I currently own. She included adorable sock monkey onesies and a bib for the baby, bones for skippy and lots of fun stuff for me!
Of course Skippy just knew there was something in there for him! Thanks again Jen!!

A Skippy fashion show
I got film back from the Northwest trip but thought I'd put in a little break from the vacation pictures. JW and Sylvia came over last week and gave us some clothes that belonged to Turbo. Turbo had passed away earlier this year. :-( We got a red hoodie, blue raincoat, a yellow and green shirt, a grey shirt and a scarf that Sylvia and JW's mom made. Skippy was kind enough to let me do a little fashion shoot with him in his new clothes.
Red Hoodie. My favorite of everything cuz of the hood and the little pockets too. He can't wear this outside since it's too long, which is too bad cuz he just looks so adorable!
Raincoat's a little too big for him even tho it's a small. I tried it this morning in the pouring rain and he kept stepping on it. So I guess Yves won't be putting this on him in the rain. He refuses to put on his red rain coat because he thinks it makes him look like a sissy (him and skippy!).
I do believe this is Skippy's favorite as he always gets excited when I put it on him. Just need to add a little black and it's the Jamaican colors!
This is really cute too and I might personalize it and write Skippy on the back or something like that.
The scarf even has a bell on it!

Rozee is a monkey
You may have guessed that we have a thing for bunnies even though we don't actually have one. We also have a thing for monkeys and obviously, we don't have one nor do we want one. So it's a good thing if we call you a monkey. We are actually liking Rozee here and I took the barracade down last Thursday night and haven't put it back up. There were a couple of altercations with Neo but he basically tries to keep out of Rozee's way. Rozee even slept with me the couple of nights Yves was away for work. It seems like she stays in the same spot, not like Skippy, who jumps off after a little while. She even gets super excited after I come back after being out and greets me at the door. It doesn't matter if I've been gone 5 minutes or 5 hours, she's always excited to see me. Don't get me wrong, Skippy gets excited too but it's usually only if I've been gone a few hours. It will be sad to see Rozee go on Wednesday.

Rozee's here
Rozee, who is Skippy's daughter, is staying with us for a week while Liz and co. went down to Jamaica to visit the rest of the family. Carol-Anne had the baby on Friday, Gabriela. I hope to have a picture of her soon. Apparently she has a head full of black hair. Anyway, Rozee is very different from Skippy, more energetic, more licking and not as disciplined when it comes to bowel functions. She promptly peed and crapped everywhere five minutes after Liz dropped her off. And today, within an hour of walking her, she peed in the kitchen. At least now she is keeping it in the kitchen. Poor Neo didn't come out of the bedroom for a day and a half. We barracaded the back of the house for Neo but he's been staying in the bedroom most of the time. Rozie really isn't too bad and maybe by the end of the week, we can take the barracade down.

This means get off the computer!
I've been freelancing most of this week and last week so I haven't had a chance to take good pictures of some of the silver pieces I've done. I couldn't resist posting this picture of Skippy. He is so freakin' cute!

Puppy cut and Piddleloop
Yesterday I took Skippy to get his hair cut. With summer coming and having a warm spring so far, we decided to get a puppy cut for him. Basically it means cutting all his hair off. He looks so cute, he reminds me of a chihuahua. His hair is so short you can see his little pee pee! LOL!
And today in my mailbox, I received my order from piddleloop! After resisting her super cute pouches and buttons, I finally relented. I did work 2 days this month, so far!
I bought 3 pouches from her. The orange one with felt monkey is mine, of course! And the other 2 are for presents so I'm not going to show that as a close up. I also ordered 2 bunny buttons from Jen. One with a moustache and one without. And she gave me extra goodies! Yay! I love extra goodies and I think any good company should do that! I got a nifty tissue pouch with a cat lounging fabric (much like my cat!) A neat fabric flower pin with some of my favorite colors, orange and lime green! and extra buttons from the moustache factory. And super cool monkey notecards. Yay!! Thanks Jen! And shipping was super fast too!

Getting some color
We've been having such amazingly warm weather lately. We let the animals out onto the porch yesterday so they could enjoy the day too. Neo just loved it and these pictures just cracked me up with him rolling onto his back like he was really sunbathing. I couldn't decide which picture I liked better so I thought I'd just post both of them.

Skippy vs Neo
Taken with Lubitel2
I so wanted this to work. It would have been better if Neo was looking at us instead of outside. Oh well.

The Skippy Winter Olympics
The snow started around 4ish yesterday but it didn't stick at first. It didn't seem to stick until sometime after 8. Pete and Joy came over for dinner. I made Penne Ala Vodka (came out ok) but Joy made this awesome Walnut Goat Cheese salad. YUM!
So this morning we woke up to a mound of snow! I tried to take Skippy out for his walk but the snow was just too high and there was no way he could do his business! He needed help going down the stairs and I couldn't help but take pictures of his dilemma! He is just too cute!
He's surveying the situation.
He's attempting the downslope.
He seems to be stuck!
Woohoo! He's made it down the stairs!

Year of the Dog
taken from 2004 in Chinatown
Happy Lunar New Year! It's the year 4704 and the Year of the Dog. Here's a card I made and sent out to all my friends instead of Christmas cards.
Had to include my cat on the inside too.

A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
I am totally in love with the DCFC song Soul Meets Body. I know it came out months ago but I never really listened to the words until I watched them perform it on SNL this past weekend. How can you not love lyrics like
Cause in my head there's a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they're far more suited than here
and then
I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
UPDATE! Someone was kind enough to upload the video from SNL here
Well aside from listening to this song over and over, I finished the scarf I was crocheting for Yves. It's super long, down to his knees, the way he wanted it!
and look at Skippy in his little jacket. Good thing we got that for him as it was FREEZING yesterday and we also got some snow.

I'm becoming one of them!
Oh man, I'm becoming one of those dog owners that dote on their pets and shows pictures of them every chance they get. Geez Skippy's only been with us about a week! It's hard to resist him when he follows you around the house all day. If I get out of hand, please shoot me. Really!
I went to meet Richard for lunch today on Indian Row. I had the chicken shag and it was yummy. Then we went for an afternoon cocktail at the Thirsty Scholar on 3rd. It was a nice day and looking forward to doing it again, after the move! Ugh, not looking forward to it but I just want to get it over with.

Skippy isn't dead!
My three boys!
I'm amazed and astounded that the animals are co-existing so well. Notice I didn't say 'getting along.' Neo will still hiss at Skippy but that only seems to happen when Skippy comes up to him and Neo doesn't want to be bothered. I get so excited when they are close to each other like on the coach. Imagine my ecstasy when one day they will be huddled right next to each other. NOT!

Skippy arrives!
Skippy on the ride home.
Well, the day has come where Skippy and Neo meet. It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. There was hissing and back arching and fluffy tails but Skippy knew not to push it and backed off, giving Neo his space. And Neo didn't hiss at us when we tried to console him. That's pretty good for Neo. Usually he would be pissed at us but we did feel like he was looking at us with sad eyes saying "Why are you doing this to me?" I'm not sure if they will ever be friends but I'm pretty sure they will be able to tolerate each other. There is no choice.

Ipod cozy and Neo
woohoo! I finally crocheted a little cozy for my ipod. It's not much and this is the 2nd version since the first version would fit a pack of cigarettes better than my ipod! I didn't sew the button on yet but was just excited that I finally made one! I haven't done much crocheting lately.
and I couldn't resist taking some pictures of Neo. This one looks like he's doing a self portrait! He's so cute. I'll have to remember these times because as soon as Skippy comes, his life won't be the same!
